The North of England Community Alliance has today launched its manifesto for the General Election.
The manifesto, A New Voice for the North, sets out the actions the North of England Community Alliance will support to improve the lives of people living in the North of England.
The action plan commits the Alliance to:
Brian Moore, Campaigns Director for the North of England Community Alliance, said: “The North of England faces three major challenges: making a success of Brexit, the ongoing security situation from people within our own communities and the ongoing austerity for people across the North while those in the City of London who were responsible for the crash have walked away scott free.
“The North of England also faces "grave risks" at this General Election, as the Tories invest in the West Midlands and other areas with a high concentration of marginal constituencies to maximise the number of Conservative MPs elected.
“Under successive Labour, Lib Dem and Conservative Governments, the North of England has not had its fair share of resources and we want to change this.
“We are making the positive case for a new kind of politics where people in the North of England have the power to make the positive change we need, the resources to strengthen our economy and security to live the life we choose.
“We want to see a good deal for the North from Brexit, a devolution settlement that works for all parts of the UK, a better start in life for our young people, more support for families and better pensions in later life.
“The North needed a new voice and our plan sets out some of the changes it has been crying out for.”
